Area volleyball heats up Tuesday

Greenville’s Lady Lions will try to shake off three losses
last week to Wills Point, Sulphur Springs and Richardson
Pearce as they travel to Royse City to take on the Lady
Bulldogs in District 10-4A volleyball tonight.
Scheduled match times are at 5:30 p.m. for the freshman and
junior varsity, with the varsity match to follow.
Also scheduled for tonight are Princeton at Commerce, Quinlan
Ford at Canton, Anna at Farmersville, Leonard at Tom Bean,
Lone Oak at Paris, Cumby at North Hopkins, Wolfe City at
Detroit and Rockwall Christian is at Greenville Christian.
Greenville lost 12-25, 26-24, 25-19, 25-23 to Wills Point and
25-14, 31-29, 25-22 to Sulphur Springs last Tuesday and then
opened 10-4A play with a 25-9, 25-14, 25-6 loss to Richardson
Pearce on Friday.
Morgan Bloyed managed three kills, four assists and one block
for the Lady Lions while Quincy Watson set for four assists,
Meghan Litchfield tallied two kills, Sarah Tankersley managed
three kills, Emelie Kilgore had two blocks and Jessica
Franklin added two kills.
Pearce won the junior varsity match, 25-8, 25-9, and the
freshman contest, 25-9, 25-8.
Bloyed set for 21 assists against Wills Point and put away
eight kills. Watson tallied 18 assists. Litchfield produced
five kills. Tankersley managed nine kills. Kilgore finished
with six kills. Franklin added seven kills and four blocks.
Hannah Stuart and Bethany Ellsworth both added nine digs and
Hannah Johnson finished with three kills.
Greenville won the junior varsity contest against Wills Point,
25-22, 25-23, and the freshman contest, 28-26, 25-19.
Watson and Bloyed both produced 11 assists against Sulphur
Springs and Bloyed added five kills. Litchfield and Tankersley
both had three kills. Kilgore added four kills and three
blocks. Franklin had three blocks. Stuart added three digs.
Ellsworth managed five digs and Brandi Cody produced three
digs.
Sulphur Springs won the junior varsity match, 26-24, 25-22,
and the freshman contest, 25-9, 25-10.
