Lady Lions win challengers' bracket in tournament

WHITESBORO -- Greenville’s Lady Lady Lions rallied from three losses on Thursday to win the challenger’s bracket on Saturday at the Whitesboro volleyball tournament.

The Lady Lions beat Paris Chisum in three games, Texoma Christian, 23-25, 25-23, 29-27 and Collinsville, 20-25, 25-20, 25-12, on Saturday. The Lady Lions lost 25-14, 25-17 to Gunter, 28-26, 25-20 to Sanger and 25-13, 25-17 to Collinsville on Thursday.

“They didn’t play well on Thursday,” said Lady Lions coach JoAnna Vaden. “We worked on some things in practice.”

Vaden said the Lady Lions played a with a lot of enthusiasm on Saturday.

Meghan Litchfield finished with 21 kills in the three matches.

Morgan Bloyed managed 38 assists and 17 kills.

Setter Quincy Watson set for 29 assists.

Hannah Stuart contributed 22 digs.

Sarah Tankersley added 13 kills.

Emelie Kilgore chipped in six kills and four blocks.

Jessica Franklin produced 13 kills.

Bethany Ellsworth added 17 digs and three kills.

Brandi Cody produced eight digs.

Hannah Johnson chipped in 13 kills and three blocks.

Yariza Castillo added four digs.

The Lady Lions will play again on Tuesday at Wills Point.
