Monday's District 10-4A golf first round results

Rowlett -- Klint Kilgore just missed a hole-in-one on No. 17 while firing a 77 to lead the Greenville Lions during Monday’s opening round of the District 10-4A golf tournament at Waterview Golf Club.

Kilgore hit a 3-wood into the wind to within three inches of the cup on the par-3, 213-yard 17th hole. He tapped in for an easy birdie, which helped him finish at five-over par. Kilgore played the back nine in one-over par.

Senior Carlos De la Guardia carded a couple of birdies to shoot an 81 for Greenville’s second low round. De la Guardia holed a couple of long putts on the opening nine to stay at four-over.

Josh Hammack was next for the Lions with an 85. Mike Williams shot a 92 and Tyler Denton managed a 93 as the Lions’ A team carded a 335 to rank eighth of 12 teams.

Luke Redd shot a 96 to lead the Greenville B team to a 446 total. Trevor Satterwhite managed a 106, while Zach Gibson shot a 121 and Zach Tripp managed a 123.

Difficult pin placements around the course didn’t slow down Highland Park Gold’s Cody Gribble, who fired the low round of the day: a six-under 66. Gribble helped the Scots’ Gold team claim a 15-stroke lead with its 284 total.

Hunter Brown shot a 69 to help Richardson Pearce’s Blue team grab second with a 299 total.

The final round is also set for Waterview today. The first Lion is to tee off at 8 a.m.
