DALLAS -- As
expected, the Greenville High School tennis team went through
a learning experience at the District 10-4A tournament on
Thursday.
Most of the Lions
and Lady Lions bowed out in the first round as Greenville
faced some tough competition.
“We’re in a pretty
tough district,” said Lions coach Don Johnson before the
tournament. “This bunch all the way through has some strong
players.”
Johnson told the
Lions and Lady Lions before the tournament that it didn’t
matter what the draw was, they’d have to face some tough
opponents eventually.
Boys singles player
Skylar Pruner and the boys doubles team of Trent Jones and
Ethan Uselton were the only GHS players to survived the
opening round.
Pruner downed
Chandler Dear of West Mesquite, 6-1, 6-2, before falling 6-1,
6-1 to Frajkor of Mesquite Poteet.

dropping a 6-1, 6-0 match to the No. 1 seeds, Overlin and
