TERRELL -- Olivia Carter and Rocio Medrano both produced double-doubles to lead the Greenville Lady Lions to a 61-57 District 10-4A basketball victory over Terrell in double overtime on Tuesday night.

Carter pumped in a game-high 21 points and pulled down 11 rebounds.

Medrano fired in 14 points and yanked down 17 rebounds as the Lady Lions finished with 41 rebounds for the game.

“Extraordinary teamwork brought this team through,” said Lady Lions coach Sharon Allen. “Key shots by Olivia Carter, Amanda Weyrick and pressure free throws gave the Lady Lions a victory.”

The Lady Lions, who were 18-of-33 from the line during the game, hit 10 of 14 in the two overtime periods.

Shanekqua Griggs also tossed in seven points for the Lady Lions and Myneshia Crow added six as Greenville evened its district record at 2-2 and improved to 7-8 for the season.

Terrell, led by Kay K. White’s 13 points and 12 points from Ciara Holmes, dropped to 5-9 for the season and 1-3 in district play.

The Lady Lions will enjoy a week off for Christmas before returning to action on Dec. 27 against Crawford in the Kaufman tournament.
