Lady Lions beat Terrell in double overtime

TERRELL -- Olivia
Carter and Rocio Medrano both produced double-doubles to lead
the Greenville Lady Lions to a 61-57 District 10-4A basketball
victory over Terrell in double overtime on Tuesday night.
Carter pumped in a
game-high 21 points and pulled down 11 rebounds.
Medrano fired in 14
points and yanked down 17 rebounds as the Lady Lions finished
with 41 rebounds for the game.
“Extraordinary
teamwork brought this team through,” said Lady Lions coach
Sharon Allen. “Key shots by Olivia Carter, Amanda Weyrick and
pressure free throws gave the Lady Lions a victory.”
The Lady Lions, who
were 18-of-33 from the line during the game, hit 10 of 14 in
the two overtime periods.
Shanekqua Griggs
also tossed in seven points for the Lady Lions and Myneshia
Crow added six as Greenville evened its district record at 2-2
and improved to 7-8 for the season.
Terrell, led by Kay
K. White’s 13 points and 12 points from Ciara Holmes, dropped
to 5-9 for the season and 1-3 in district play.
The Lady Lions will
enjoy a week off for Christmas before returning to action on
Dec. 27 against Crawford in the Kaufman tournament.
