Lions cross country team places fifth

PLANO -- Joshua Carrillo placed 29th to lead the Greenville Lions to a fifth-place finish in the Plano Invitational cross country meet on Saturday.

Carrillo covered the five-kilometer distance in 20 minutes, 12 seconds. Teammate Rory Curtin was 32nd (20:34), followed by Keeran Cook, 35th, 23:41; Camden Dewberry, 37th, 24:01; and Clay Evans, 41st, 28:28.

The Lady Lions competed in the junior varsity girls division, placing 11th.

Priscilla Carrillo led Greenville with a 60th place finish for the two-mile run with a 14:37 time.

Following her were teammates Jennifer Martinez, 62nd, 14:40; Andrea Brincefield, 64th, 14:44; Ellen Robins, 81st, 15:08; Bailey Phillips, 110th, 15:36; Norma Ramirez, 119th, 16:15; and Katie Rice, 152nd, 17:13.

The Greenville runners are scheduled to compete again on Saturday at the Bland Invitational.
